Sheryl Garrett, MD
Dr. Garrett grew up in a farming community in New Mexico where she enjoyed riding horses and hiking in the Pecos wilderness. She later moved to California to attend Stanford University in Palo Alto, California, majoring in electrical engineering and history. Following graduation she worked as an electrical engineer doing hardware design for an avionics company.
Dr. Garrett attended Georgetown University to pursue a medical degree specializing in cardiology research. She then returned to Stanford University for a residency in internal medicine. This was followed by a fellowship in cardiology at Mt. Sinai School of Medicine in New York City. Dr. Garrett went on to spend 18 years at a busy tertiary cardiac hospital in San Francisco.
Given her rural roots, Dr. Garrett has always wanted to work in a farming community and was delighted to join NCMA Cardiology in Petaluma. She believes in treating the whole person and looks forward to partnering with patients for their cardiac health. Dr. Garrett has expanded her availability in Sonoma County beyond her ongoing practice with Northern California Medical Associates’ Petaluma cardiology office by also seeing patients in Sonoma, California, at our Perkins Street office.
In her spare time Dr. Garrett loves the outdoors and enjoys biking, hiking and swimming with her husband, two children and two golden retrievers. Ever a tech nerd, she enjoys doing robotics with her kids. She is also working on a program that will bring coding classes to Native American children.
