Sonoma
Valley Hospital’s focus on quality care, patient safety and improved efficiencies
will be featured in its Performance Improvement Showcase starting Monday, February
3. The community is invited to attend.

The event,
now in its fifth year, is organized by the Hospital’s Quality Department and the
Sonoma Valley Health Care District’s Quality Committee to recognize initiatives
developed by Hospital staff, departments, and multidisciplinary teams that have
identified opportunities for improving the Hospital’s patient care, safety, and
performance.

“We have a
highly committed hospital and medical staff and this provides an opportunity to
showcase our ongoing efforts to improve hospital performance for our staff,
patients, and community” said Jane Hirsch, Health Care District Board Chair.

This year’s
Showcase highlights nine projects. All teams followed the Plan-Do-Study-Act
(PDSA) process promoted by the Institute for Healthcare Improvement. “PDSA is a powerful and reliable tool of
change in the healthcare environment to improve processes and outcomes,” said
Danielle Jones, Sonoma Valley Hospital’s Chief Quality Officer. Sonoma Valley
Hospital has been utilizing the PDSA protocol method since 2011.

“The exhibits
showcase new approaches that get results, whether by enhancing patient care and
safety, or streamlining operations for maximum effectiveness and potential reduced
cost savings,” noted Jones.

The showcase starts Monday, February 3 and will be open to the community through Friday, March 6 during regular business hours (8:00 am to 5:00 pm). A self-guided tour map can be obtained from the front desk receptionist in the Main Lobby.
