Sonoma Valley Hospital Offers No-Cost Mammograms For Uninsured and Underinsured Women During October

September 25, 2013

Sonoma Valley Hospital’s Women’s Health Center is offering no-cost mammograms to Sonoma Valley women over the age of 40 during October, which is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The screening program, known as Project Pink, is made available as a community service through a special grant from the Sonoma Valley Hospital Foundation.
“The American Cancer Society recommends that women over 40 have a mammogram every year, and we want to help ensure that women in Sonoma have access to this important screening,” said Harmony Plenty, Foundation Executive Director.
The program is open for women who:

  • Live or work in Sonoma Valley
  • Have not had a mammogram within the past 12 months
  • Are uninsured, underinsured, have a high deductible or are otherwise unable to afford a mammogram.
  • Are 40 years or older.

To take advantage of the program, a woman must:

  • Obtain an order from her physician, who can fax the order to Sonoma Valley Hospital at 707.935.5271. If you do not have a physician, please contact the Women’s Health Center at 707.935.5215 and Hospital staff will help you.
  • Call 707.935.5215 to make an appointment. Please be sure to tell the scheduler that you want to take advantage of the Foundation’s Project Pink no cost mammogram program.
  • Please let the scheduler know if you have had mammograms at another facility in the past.

Screenings will be conducted at the Sonoma Valley Hospital’s Women Health Center, located at 246 Perkins Street in Sonoma.

To register or for more information, please call 707-935-5215.
