SVH’s Upcoming GirlTalk To Discuss Foot Health For Women

January 10, 2017

Sonoma Valley Hospital’s February GirlTalk session will feature Dr. Oendrila Kamal, DPM, who will discuss common foot and ankle probleoendrila-kamalms that women experience and how to take care of your feet so they remain healthy for a lifetime.

“You need to pay attention when you experience foot pain or soreness because it means something is not functioning properly,” says Dr. Kamal. “ Around a quarter of all the bones in your body are in your feet, not including the joints, muscles and tendons, and they all have to work together to keep you moving without discomfort.”

Dr. Kamal will address a number of topics related to foot health including choosing shoes that provide comfort and fashion, keeping your feet and ankles healthy during exercise, and non-surgical options for chronic foot problems.

Joining Dr. Kamal will be Katie Hodson, DPT, from SVH’s Physical Therapy Department who will demonstrate easy food exercises that help prevent soreness.

Dr. Kamal is an associate with the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. She received her medical degree from New York College of Podiatric Medicine with honors, and completed her intensive three-year foot and ankle surgical residency in the Washington, D.C. area. Dr. Kamal provides her patients with comprehensive foot and ankle care and can be reached through the Sonoma Valley Specialist Clinic on First Street West in Sonoma.

GirlTalk will be held in the Rodeo Room at MacArthur Place from 6:00 pm till 7:30 pm on Friday, February 17. There is a $10 charge at the door to cover light refreshments and beverages. A no-host bar also will be available. Reservations are required, as space is limited.
