Understanding Breast Cancer Is Topic of February GirlTalk Sponsored By Sonoma Valley Hospital

January 29, 2018

Breast cancer, a disease that affects the lives of many women today, is the topic of the next session of Sonoma Valley Hospital’s GirlTalk series. The February 23 talk, “Breast Cancer: Past, Present and Future,” will discuss how diagnosis and treatment have evolved in recent years as new therapies have become available.

Alexis Alexandridis, MD, FACS

Discussion will be led by Dr. Alexis Alexandridis, MD, FACS, a board-certified surgeon and specialist in breast health and breast cancer surgery, who will review historical perspectives on breast cancer that inform current therapies, with a discussion of risk factors, current screening practices, risk reduction recommendations, and new therapies that are available.

GirlTalk will be held at Ramekin’s, located at 450 West Spain Street in Sonoma, from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm on Friday, February 23. There is a $10 donation at the door to cover light refreshments and beverages, and a no-host bar will be available. Reservations are required, as space is limited. To reserve a place or for more information, call Celia Kruse de la Rosa at 707.935.5257, or email girltalk@sonomavalleyhospital.org.

GirlTalk is a program sponsored by Sonoma Valley Hospital to provide women in our community with the latest information on timely health and wellness topics and help them take charge of their health and well-being.

Dr. Alexandridis specializes in breast health and breast surgery, as well as endoscopy/colonoscopy and laparoscopic surgery. She received her medical degree from New York Medical College and is a member of The American Society of Breast Surgeons.

She provides a wide range of surgical services including lumpectomy, mastectomy, lymph node procedures, counseling and testing for genetic breast cancer syndromes, as well as treating benign breast disease like fibroadenomas, mastitis, and breast infections.
