A Message From the CEO

Even in my short time here, it is clear that 2025 has been a year of real progress. From leadership transitions to expanded services, new technology, and a continued focus on partnerships across the Valley, this community continues to invest in high-quality care close to home.

I look forward to learning from and working together in the months ahead. Thank you for your dedication to our community hospital, and for the role each of you plays in supporting the health and well-being of our Valley.

Wishing you and your families a healthy, peaceful, and joyful holiday season.

Warm regards,
Kelley Kaiser
President & CEO, Sonoma Valley Hospital

2025: A Year of Progress, Partnership & Investment in Our Community

The past year brought progress, new leadership, and deeper connections across our community. Together with our partners, donors, clinicians, and staff, we continued to expand access to high-quality care close to home. Here are a few of the moments that defined 2025 at Sonoma Valley Hospital.

Introducing Our New President & CEO: Kelley C. Kaiser

In early November, SVH welcomed Kelley C. Kaiser, MPH following the unanimous appointment by the Sonoma Valley Health Care District Board of Directors in collaboration with UCSF Health.

With more than 25 years of experience across complex health systems—including her most recent role as Chief Administrative Officer at Samaritan Health Services—Kaiser brings both operational expertise and a forward-thinking approach to meeting the evolving needs of community health.

Kelley holds a Bachelor of Science in Health Care Administration from Oregon State University and a Master of Public Health in Health Policy & Management. She and her husband look forward to making Sonoma Valley home.

Her leadership will guide SVH into its next chapter, ensuring strong partnerships, sustainable growth, and continued excellence in care.

Physical Therapy Expansion Opens

In November, Sonoma Valley Hospital proudly opened the doors to its expanded Outpatient Physical Therapy Clinic. The 3,500-square-foot addition nearly doubles the size of the previous facility, improving patient comfort and increasing capacity.

The expansion allows our Rehabilitation team to offer a broader range of services, including:

  • Enhanced pediatric therapy
  • Pelvic health therapy
  • Vestibular rehabilitation
  • Dedicated fall-prevention programs
  • A new Solo Step overhead track and harness system to support gait training and balance recovery

This project represents a significant investment in restoring strength, mobility, and quality of life for our community.

Investing in Women’s Health

Thanks to the generosity of donors and participants at the 2025 Women’s Health Symposium, SVH has acquired and fully implemented a new breast ultrasound machine with advanced imaging capabilities.

This technology is already making an impact—particularly for patients with dense breast tissue—by offering greater clarity that supports earlier detection and more accurate diagnosis. We extend our gratitude to everyone who made this important enhancement to women’s health possible.

Strengthening Diagnostic Excellence: A Record Year for MRI

2025 also marked the first full year of patient care using our state-of-the-art 3T MRI, which has dramatically expanded imaging capabilities at SVH. The new system offers:

  • Higher-resolution images for more accurate diagnoses
  • Faster scan times
  • Improved comfort for patients
  • Enhanced imaging for orthopedics, neurology, breast care, and abdominal studies

The community response has been extraordinary. The new MRI has supported record numbers of scans this year, allowing more patients to stay close to home for high-quality diagnostic services.

Looking Ahead

As we enter a new year, we do so with gratitude, for the trust of our community, the dedication of our staff and physicians, and the generous support of our donors and partners. Together, we’ve built a foundation of progress that will carry Sonoma Valley Hospital forward in 2026 and beyond.

Winter Wellness Tips From Sonoma Valley Hospital

With cold and flu season underway, here are a few ways to stay healthy this winter:

  • For minor illness or injury, consider prompt care; for more serious or concerning symptoms, our Emergency Department is available 24/7
  • Stay up to date on flu, RSV, and COVID-19 vaccines
  • Wash hands frequently, especially before meals and after public activities
  • Stay hydrated, maintain good nutrition, and get adequate sleep
  • If you’re feeling unwell, stay home to protect others and seek care as needed

Celebrating Community Partnerships: A Season of Gratitude and Connection

Each December, Sonoma Valley Hospital’s Community Trust Team delivers holiday cookies and heartfelt thanks to the nonprofits, agencies, and service providers who strengthen our community alongside us. One of our favorite year-end rituals, this offers us an opportunity to pause, visit, and express our gratitude to the partners who help make Sonoma stronger, healthier, and more connected.

Across the year, our hospital collaborates with dozens of local organizations. These partnerships extend the reach of our services, support whole-person health, and ensure that community members of all ages have access to resources that keep them safe, active, and well. Whether through joint programs, shared outreach events, emergency response coordination, or support for seniors, these alliances deepen our impact far beyond the hospital walls.

This season, as we deliver our 2025 holiday cookies, we’re proud to spotlight two partners whose mission and collaboration truly enrich our community.

PARTNER PROFILE: Vintage House – Empowering Sonoma’s Seniors

Vintage House has long been one of Sonoma Valley’s most essential community anchors. As a hub for active aging, education, connection, and wellness, Vintage House provides programs that help older adults stay engaged, independent, and socially connected—key elements of lifelong health.

Our partnership with Vintage House is multifaceted:

  • We collaborate on workshops and educational series focused on healthy aging.
  • Their team helps extend our outreach to older adults who benefit from fall-prevention programs, chronic disease education, and mobility support.
  • Together, we ensure that seniors in Sonoma Valley have access to the resources needed to thrive.

As we stop by during cookie deliveries this year, we celebrate Vintage House for its unwavering dedication to supporting the well-being of Sonoma’s older adults.

PARTNER PROFILE: Sonoma Valley Fire District – A Shared Commitment to Safety

The Sonoma Valley Fire District is one of our most valued partners in ensuring community safety and emergency readiness. Their highly trained team responds to medical emergencies across the Valley, often serving as the very first point of care for our patients. Our collaboration is seamless—from joint drills and emergency preparedness planning to coordinated responses during heat events, wildfires, and other crises.

We rely on the Fire District’s expertise, professionalism, and deep community commitment every day. Their partnership strengthens our Emergency Department’s impact and supports our shared goal of protecting lives throughout Sonoma Valley.

Delivering cookies to their stations this season is just one small way to acknowledge the lifesaving work they do year-round.
