Sonoma Valley Hospital Offers “Aches and Pains” Clinics

August 20, 2014

Sonoma Valley Hospital has scheduled additional sessions for its popular “Aches and Pains” clinic, which is offered to Sonoma residents without cost.

The clinics will address the aches and pains most of us develop as we age. The September and October clinics will focus on the two most common forms of discomfort – pains located in the neck and shoulder area, and pains in the hip and lower back. Attendees should sign up for a specific session, as only one of the two topics will be discussed at each clinic.

The clinic provides help in two ways. First, through a one-hour community lecture series conducted by Hospital Physical Therapist Marek Grzybowski, who will explain common reasons why we experience pain and discuss the range of treatment options, including simple things you can do on your own, such as learning how to better cope with stress, improve body mechanics so you can exercise safely without injury, or deal effectively with mild arthritis. There will also be a question-and-answer period.

Immediately following the lecture, participants can get a free screening with a Physical Therapist who will help you assess the cause of your pain and identify treatment options.

Neck and Shoulder Pains clinics will be held on Tuesday, September 23, and Tuesday, October 7.

Hip and Lower Back Pains clinics will be held on Thursday, October 2, and Thursday, October 16.

Each clinic will start at 5:00 pm at the Sonoma Valley Hospital Hand and Physical Therapy facility, located at 19312 Sonoma Hwy, Sonoma, (directly behind the Fitness Factory). While there is no charge, you need to call the Hospital’s Physical Therapy Department at 707-935-5345 to reserve a place. Please specify which clinic you plan to attend. You can also call this number for more information.
